    HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN A SOLAR PANEL?

    Dependent on the environment and climate, rainy and windy areas require more frequent cleaning. In South Africa, November through to March are the rainy months. Therefore August and April make for good times to clean Solar Panels. This will provide highest Efficiencies through all seasons.

    A solar system is one of the lowest maintenance appliances that provide investment returns. It is wise to do regular checks to monitor any build up of dirt, debris or foreign particles.

HOW TO CLEAN SOLAR PANELS?

  • 1. For the best clean, use a hose pipe (a bucket of water is okay too) to wet the panels and rinse off any loose dust and debris.

  • 2. Spray Solar Panel Cleaner directly onto the panels.

  • 3. Use a non-abrasive, soft sponge or soft microfibre cloth and clean the panels. Avoid harsh scrubbing.

  • 4. Rinse thoroughly with hosepipe water to remove cleaner, dirt and debris.

  • 5. Allow to Dry.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

  • Before proceeding, make sure the panels are turned off and disconnected from the grid.

  • If your solar panels are located at a height, use required safety gear.

  • Don’t use rough or abrasive materials that might scratch the panels

  • Avoid using high-pressure water, as it could damage the panels or disrupt the connections.

  • Avoid cleaning your panels in extreme heat or during the hottest part of the day

Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid contact with eyes, if contact occurs rinse thoroughly with water. Do not ingest, if ingested contact a doctor immediately. Do not induce vomiting.
